Whitley Bay Islamic Centre’s Annual Fun Day Brings Together Over 200 Community Members for a Day of Celebration and Connection

The Whitley Bay Islamic Cultural Centre (WBICC) held its first annual fun day since the pandemic in 2022, and it was a roaring success. Over 200 people attended, with a range of stalls and activities on offer. The event brought together people from all backgrounds, and it was a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the local community.

The WBICC has been a cornerstone of the community for many years, providing a space for Muslims to come together, pray, and socialise. However, the pandemic has had a significant impact on the Centre’s ability to connect with the community. For many, the fun day was a chance to come back to the Centre, catch up with old friends, and make new ones.

The day was filled with activities and entertainment for all ages. One of the most popular stalls was Mira Rose, which sold handmade jewellery and Burger Bros provided delicious halal burgers, and there was even a bouncy castle for children to enjoy.

The event was a great opportunity for local businesses and organisations to showcase their services and products. It was also an opportunity for people to learn more about Islam and the WBICC. Volunteers from the Centre were on hand to answer questions and provide information about the Centre’s services and activities.

The WBICC is committed to promoting interfaith and intercultural understanding. The fun day was a great opportunity to showcase the Centre’s values and demonstrate the positive impact that the Centre has on the local community. It was also an opportunity to break down stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.

The event was a huge success, and the WBICC is already looking forward to next year’s fun day. The Centre is committed to bringing the community together and creating opportunities for people to connect and build relationships. The fun day was a great example of this, and it is a testament to the Centre’s commitment to promoting social cohesion and community integration.

In conclusion, the WBICC’s first annual fun day since the pandemic was a great success. Over 200 people attended, and there was a range of stalls and activities on offer. The event was a great opportunity to celebrate the diversity of the local community and bring people together. The Centre is committed to promoting interfaith and intercultural understanding and creating opportunities for people to connect and build relationships. We look forward to next year’s event and continuing to work towards creating a more inclusive and connected community.
