Wellbeing Counselling
At Whitley Islamic Centre we know how important it is for Muslims to have an Islamic perspective in counselling, which is why we offer a holistic approach to your wellbeing – this includes mental health, faith, culture, and family dynamics.
We take great care in protecting your privacy and ensuring a safe space for you to attend. We are also able to adopt an approach where we can evaluate your needs and provide suggestions that would be most effective to support and help you. We also have the means to get in contact with wider professional help if need be.
Mental Health
We live in an era where the illnesses are not always seen, but these can affect people the most. Poor mental health can impact a persons’ day to day life in their abilities to function whether it be at school, at work, or even with their families. Negative implication can further lead someone to depression – at its worst, depression can lead to suicide. Over 700 000 people die due to suicide every year. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15-29-year-olds. (https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/depression).
It is incredibly important we educate ourselves on these matters to help detect this in ourselves and our children as early as we can. It also important that we seek an Islamic perspective on this as well. If you’re worried or concerned about yourself or your children please do get in touch and we will support you in any way we can.
