Whitley Bay Islamic Cultural Centre

A huge thank you to everyone who visited us at Whitley Bay Islamic Cultural Centre, on Sunday 29th October where we held our Open Day.

The vibrant atmosphere of diversity shone brightly as Whitley Bay Islamic Cultural Centre recently opened its doors for a day of exploration and learning. From the morning to the afternoon, WBICC’s open day was one to remember!

As attendees entered, they were greeted with a warm welcome by the  WBICC volunteers and given a guided tour of the centre. Entering the main prayer hall, they were met with an embrace of information stalls offering insights into the core values of WBICC and the essence of Islam, delivered by the Imam, Al-Amin and volunteer, Jack Jenkins. The heart of the information was the interactive Q&A stall. No question was too small or too complex to be answered by knowledgeable speakers, allowing curious minds to connect through discussion and interactions.

From the main prayer hall into the women’s prayer facility, visitors were shown the value and importance of women in Islam and the facilities that are provided for them. Including education, socialising, and women’s fitness classes.

The Open Day featured a range of refreshments and exciting stalls including free literature and an Islamic gift stall. The artistic Henna stall allowed guests to try on beautiful henna designs, intricately designed by one of the volunteers. The heart of the stalls lay in the exciting WBICC free raffle,  with a luxury afternoon tea hamper as the prize!

For fitness enthusiasts, WBICC introduced their new gym, with top-of-the-range machines and equipment, open for all to use. The gym tour included a special 1-minute rowing challenge, with the winner earning a prize of a free 3-month WBICC gym membership. This sparked an eager challenge between the fire department and police force to gain the highest distance!

Families  found their oasis in the array of activities for the younger ones – from colouring

sessions, animated adventures and an interactive treasure hunt that had the children exploring the entire centre for a ‘sweet’ prize!

The WBICC Open Day was more than just opening its doors; it was an experience of understanding, unity and celebration for all.
