Women Only Swimming Session (FREE)
A women’s only session will be held at Tynemouth pool every two weeks on a Saturday from 1:15pm – 2:15pm free of charge. All staff within the premises will be female including the life guard.
Please collect your membership card from the office to participate.
We’re pleased to announce a new initiative with Active North Tyneside and Body Benefits – Women’s Only Swimming.
We’ve worked with the Body Benefits for a very long time now and are incredibly happy to start this new class. Initially this discussion happened during one of the exercise classes where a number of the women involved were interested in swimming, however they never had the opportunity to go swimming at any of the leisure centres in North Tyneside. Some of the concerns that the women had were issues of mixed swimming pools, feeling alienated and lack of awareness of such facilities.
There are around 15-30 women from the South Asian community interested to join the swimming sessions, some of which have never seen a swimming pool in their entire lives. Some have lived in the UK for many years and had no idea such facilities existed. This is due to the lack of inclusivity for South Asian and Muslim women in North Tyneside.
Currently swimming sessions are on every Saturday from 1:15 – 2:15pm at Tynemouth Pool. We have around 20-30 women attending every week – if you’re interested get in touch or you are more than welcome to attend.
